What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

HBOT is a healthcare treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room or chamber. The increased pressure allows the lungs to absorb more oxygen, significantly decreasing inflammation (the cause of many sources of pain) and allows the body to heal more rapidly and effectively.

How does HBOT work?

The increased pressure in the hyperbaric chamber allows a higher concentration of oxygen to dissolve in the blood plasma, enhancing oxygen delivery to tissues, which aids in healing and reduces inflammation.

What conditions can be treated with HBOT?

HBOT is commonly used for conditions such as non-healing wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, and certain chronic infections. Does New Brunswick Medicare cover the cost of treatment?

Currently, Medicare does not cover the cost of treatment in New Brunswick.

Will my health insurance cover the cost of treatment fully or partially?

Given the diverse array of companies offering distinct plans, we advise consulting with your insurance provider to ascertain the coverage of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). It’s noteworthy that numerous insurance providers offer a “special authorization” form, which can be completed to facilitate payment under specific circumstances.

How much does one session cost?

The cost of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is influenced by factors such as the number of sessions, session duration, and treatment objectives. Providing an exact price without a comprehensive understanding of the client’s condition and treatment goals is challenging. Our session rates fall within the range of $250 to $350, aligning with the standards of medical-grade treatment facilities throughout North America.

Can I make monthly payments?

Absolutely! O2 Hyperbaric Center is delighted to announce its partnership with Beautifi, a leading finance company specializing in medical procedures and treatments not covered by Medicare or private insurance. Depending on your treatment plan, payments can start as low as $49/Month! Explore our financing options or start your application by clicking here.

How many sessions will I require?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a cumulative treatment, where each session enhances effectiveness and yields better results over time. The number of treatment sessions ranges from 5 to 60, depending on the specific condition being addressed and its severity. For best results it is recommended the sessions be done once a day or a minimum of 3 sessions per week.

How long does a typical HBOT session last?

Sessions typically last between 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the condition being treated. The number of sessions varies based on the individual and their specific medical condition.

Is HBOT safe?

When administered by trained medical professionals, HBOT is generally considered safe. However, it’s essential to discuss your medical history and any potential risks with your HBOT specialists.

What does it feel like inside the hyperbaric chamber?

The experience is often described as painless. During the session, you may feel a sensation similar to being in an airplane during takeoff or landing due to changes in pressure. You can communicate with the treatment staff through an intercom system.

Are there any contraindications for HBOT?

Certain conditions, such as untreated pneumothorax, recent ear surgery, or severe respiratory diseases, may be contraindications for HBOT. It’s crucial to discuss your medical history thoroughly with our treatment team prior to treatment.

Can HBOT be combined with other treatments?

Yes, HBOT is often used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Your treatment team will determine the most suitable combination of therapies based on your condition.

Are there other HBOT options available?

O2 Hyperbaric Center stands as the exclusive private, medical-grade hyperbaric facility in Atlantic Canada. While some wellness clinics provide HBOT services at a lower cost, it’s important to note that they utilize “home use” devices, which are neither legally transportable into Canada nor capable of reaching the treatment pressures and oxygen levels achieved by a medical-grade center.
