What is HBOT?
From the moment life begins, Oxygen is a vital molecule our bodies need in abundance for:
- Cellular reproduction
- Cellular growth
- Energy production
- Healing from many health condition
- Stem cell growth and generation
- Immune System function
- Reduction of inflammation
…And so much more
Every breath we take
Only 21% of that air contains oxygen. In a healthy person, this is adequate to perform most metabolic functions.
However when a person is injured/ill, their need for oxygen increases. Often times the injury or illness causes inflammation, preventing oxygen from reaching areas of the body that desperately need it. This is where Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy becomes so important.
Under normal conditions there is one barometric pressure being exerted on your body from the air/atmosphere. When a patient is treated with HBOT, their body is placed at higher pressures (about the same as scuba diving 35-45 feet). At these pressures while breathing high concentrations of oxygen, your blood cell, tissues, the lymphatic system and blood plasma become MUCH more saturated with oxygen (up to 15 times more). The increased oxygen can travel to many more areas of the body, promoting rapid healing and increased general health. There are an increasing amount of studies linking hyperbaric therapy to the reduction of the signs and symptoms of aging.
